Silent Samaritan Luncheon - 2010 |
|
The Silent Samaritan program is run by women on the Samaritan Center’s Board of Directors; these gifts are for use only in helping women get the help they need. Each year, this fund helps women to attain wholeness in the face of spousal abuse, childhood physical, sexual or emotional abuse, low self-esteem, depression, and anxiety.
This year was the ninth Silent Samaritan Luncheon, and the need for women helping women is still as important as ever. Each year, the Silent Samaritan Fund helps as many as 150 women seek counseling help when they are most vulnerable. Not only do these women benefit from the financial support that they receive, but also from the knowledge that other women care enough to give them this life-changing gift.
In addition to the Silent Samaritans in the community, area businesses are vital to continuing the mission of the Samaritan Center. Lucchese’s Italian Restaurant and Matzke Florist have been loyal supporters of the event since its inception in 1994. We are honored to thank 1st Source Bank, Lippert Components, RSM McGladrey, Warrick & Boyn, The Centre PC, and Personnel Partners for their generous support. The event could not have been a success without the hard work of the event chairpersons: Laura Arauz-Smith and Suzanne Wyatt and the generosity of Rick & Cindy Burns for providing the beautiful location for such an uplifting event.
We would also like to thank Ms. Elizabeth “Dolly” Duffy for sharing her uplifting stories and optimistic spirit with the Silent Samaritans. |
